CHARTIERS VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT LEGAL NOTICE The 2017-2018 Preliminary General Fund Budget, shall be considered during the Tuesday, February 14, 2017, Regular Meeting of the Board of School Directors. The 2017-2018 proposed Preliminary General Fund Budget, on form PDE 2028, will be available for public inspection on January 26, 2017 at the District Office's, 2030 Swallow Hill Road Pittsburgh, PA 15220, between the hours of 8 a.m and 4:00 p.m. Pursuant to Act 1of 2006 (the Taxpayer Relief Act), the Pennsylvania Department of Education published a base index of 2.5% applicable to School Districts. The Chartiers Valley District real estate tax increase for 2017-2018 is limited to the index of 2.5% unless the proposed tax rate is approved by voters pursuant to a referendum or the School District qualifies for an Act 1 exception. As a result of special circumstances covered by an Act 1 referendum exception, a tax increase above the index might be required to balance the 2017-2018 General Fund Budget. The tax to be levied is required to provide a quality education program as reflected in the 2017-2018 Preliminary General Fund Budget. The School District intends to seek approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Education as required by Act 1 for exceptions allowing an increase of the real estate tax as reflected in the 2017-2018 Preliminary General Fund Budget. The 2017-2018 Final General Fund Budget, shall be considered during the June 27, 2017 Regular Meeting of the Board of School Directors. The 2017-2018 proposed Final General Fund Budget, on form PDE 2028, will be available for public inspection beginning Friday, May 26, 2017 at the District Office's , 2030 Swallow Hill Road, Pittsburgh PA 15220.
